Home - Union City's upcoming Utility User Tax

The City is considering a Utility User Tax (UUT) to keep current city services and to avoid significant budget cuts. See results of polling residents in the staff report on page 471. A UUT requires a vote this June or November 2010. The City has a current deficit of $7 million due to dropping sales tax and property tax revenues. In addition, the State of California (State) may take another $10 million to balance the State budget.
